GiveLifeWP is a non-commercial community project. We collect as little as we can, we never sell or share it, and we’ll delete it whenever you ask. This page explains exactly what happens to your information, in line with the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
GiveLifeWP is the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at hello@givelifewp.org about anything on this page.
What we collect when you sign up for updates
- Your email address, so we can send you the occasional update about GiveLifeWP.
- The date and time you signed up, as a record of your consent.
- The IP address you signed up from, as part of that consent record and to help us spot and block automated spam signups.
That’s all. We don’t ask for your name, we don’t build profiles, and we don’t combine this with any other data.
Why we’re allowed to use it
- Your email address is used on the basis of your consent (Article 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw it at any time.
- The signup date and IP address are kept on the basis of our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) in being able to show when and how you agreed, and in keeping the list free of abuse.
Where it’s stored and who can see it
Your details are stored in this website’s database on servers in the United Kingdom, hosted by Pressidium, who kindly sponsor our hosting. The connection to the site is encrypted (HTTPS), and the subscriber list can only be seen by GiveLifeWP’s site administrators. Pressidium acts as our data processor and only handles the data to run the hosting.
To keep the site fast and protected from attacks, Pressidium delivers pages through its edge network, which briefly handles each visitor’s IP address to route and serve the request. It does not store your signup details.
We never sell, rent or share your information with anyone else, and we don’t use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep your email address, signup date and IP address for as long as you’re subscribed. When you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your details, we remove them within 3 days. If the project ever stops sending updates, we’ll delete the whole list.
To slow down spam, the site also keeps a scrambled (hashed) form of the IP address of each signup attempt for one hour, after which it’s automatically deleted.
Cookies, trackers and third parties
We don’t currently use any cookies for visitors, and there’s no analytics, advertising, tracking pixels or social media widgets on this site. Our fonts and scripts are served from our own server, so visiting a page doesn’t make your browser contact any other company. Links to other sites, like X, only take you there if you click them.
If that ever changes, we’ll update this page first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- unsubscribe you and withdraw your consent,
- show you a copy of what we hold about you,
- correct it,
- delete it,
- restrict or object to how we use it, or
- send it to you in a portable format.
Just email hello@givelifewp.org. Every update we send will also tell you how to unsubscribe. We’ll reply within one month.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or to the data protection authority where you live.
Children
Updates are meant for adults. Please don’t sign up if you’re under 16.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll let subscribers know by email.
